Detective Cindy Miranda is an experienced financial crimes investigator for the Montgomery County Police Department. She brings many years of knowledge and experience to our event and will provide guidance and tips on how to protect yourself and your money. You will gain valuable tips on how to protect yourself from scams and fraud. You'll learn how to spot the most common scams, how to keep your money secure and how to report financial fraud if you suspect that you've been a victim.

Kevin Bayly, Esq. will speak to the pros and cons of setting up a family trust. What is a trust? What does it provide for you in terms of protecting your assets? What are the downsides of putting your assets into a trust. What type of trust is the right trust for you. Is it the right fit for you and your personal situation? Kevin will provide a healthy overview.

Travis Vollmerhausen of Main Street Home Loans will discuss how to access money in your trust should you wish to use those assets.  Are you considering a move to downsize, a move to a retirement community,  or move in with a family member who may be modifying their home for you?  Learn how you can access trust funds that stretch your dollar as much as possible.

Cindy Miranda, Detective MCPD

Detective Miranda became a Montgomery County Police officer in 1998. She patrolled the streets of Silver Spring for about 8 years then became a Child abuse detective. After 6 years in this unit, Detective Miranda went to the Financial Crimes Division where she has been for the past for almost 10 years. Detective Miranda is fluent in Spanish and is a Certified Fraud Examiner. She has been an International Association of Financial Crimes Investigators member for the past 8 years & currently serves as a board member for the Mid-Atlantic Chapter.

 

Kevin Bayly, Managing Attorney

Kevin is the managing attorney of Community Title Network’s Kensington, Maryland and Washington, DC offices. Kevin’s legal experience includes real estate and property law, real estate transactions, contract drafting and negotiations, small business matters, intellectual property, and copyright law.

A native of the Washington, DC area, Kevin attended Gonzaga College High School, graduated from the University of Maryland as a Banneker Key Scholar, and earned his law degree from Catholic University of America’s Columbus School of Law. Kevin will offer guidance on the pros and cons of setting up a family trust, and how to know if this is the next right step for you.
